Half Boned Stays - 18th century corsetmaking
Stays are the foundation garment of 18th century fashion.
Learn how to make your own 18th century corset (= stays) in this 3 week course!
Perfect for your period costume project or create a stunning cosplay or show piece! The techniques you learn in this class can be easily adapted to your requirements.
You will work from an easy to use paper pattern and each week I will walk you step by step through the process.
You will learn about fabrics and tools needed for corsetmaking and all the steps to produce your own set of stays:
- how to choose the right size
- create a mockup
- make adjustments to the paper pattern
- cut your fabrics
- make up and finish your stays
The class will be taught LIVE in three weekly two-hours lessons (=6 hours), where I will demonstrate in real time everything you need to know!
You will receive an assignment at the end of each class to prepare over the week.
You will of course have the opportunity to ask questions during class, which I will answer live, plus each course member gets 30 minutes 1-on-1 support from me in a Skype session!
You will be required to purchase your materials and pattern separately, however I have a special package deal from Neheleniapatterns.com for you, which includes everything!
If you want to provide your own materials instead of the recommended package that is also possible.
Your multi-sized PDF pattern is included in the class price and will be emailed to you after booking.
Sizes included in the pattern: EU 34-52 (= Bust: 84-128 cm =33 1/2-51″, Waist 66-110 cm = 26 1/2-44″)
Please note this class is not suitable for you if you are totally new to sewing, as advanced sewing skills are required!
